Employee Handbook v.2024.docx

INCLEMENT WEATHER/OFFICE CLOSING CODAC establishes procedures to close or delay opening of CODAC sites due to hazardous or severe weather conditions, as well as procedures for notifying employees of a closure or delay. The President/CEO is the authorized representative to decide to close CODAC due to hazardous or severe weather. When hazardous or severe weather conditions occur outside of regular business hours, CODAC’s President/CEO will make reasonable efforts to notify employees on the day of the closure. CODAC will notify employees of any delay or closure via a phone tree. When hazardous or severe weather occurs during the day, the President/CEO will decide whether to close early. In the event that CODAC closes early due to hazardous or severe weather, nonexempt employees will be paid for all hours worked and will otherwise be paid in accordance with applicable federal and state law. For hours not worked and not otherwise compensable, nonexempt employees can use available paid time off. Exempt employees who report to work but are sent home early due to hazardous or severe weather will receive pay for a normal working day. When CODAC is open, but an employee is unable to report to work because of hazardous or severe weather, the employee should report any delay or absence to their supervisor at the earliest possible time. Employees will be required to use Paid Time Off on days when CODAC is open but the employee does not report to work because of inclement weather. For employees that do not have Paid Time Off available, nonexempt employees will be paid only for time worked and exempt employees will not be paid for full-day absences due to inclement weather. If the office remains open, employees must make a reasonable effort to report to work as scheduled. Employees should not take unnecessary risks to report to work in unsafe conditions. NO SOLICITATION / DISTRIBUTION OF LITERATURE CODAC has established the following rules applicable to all employees and non-employees that govern solicitation, distribution of written material and access to CODAC property:  Employees may engage in solicitation activities only during nonworking times. No employee may engage in solicitation during their working time or during the working time of the employee or the employees at whom such activity is directed;  Employees may distribute or circulate any written or printed material only in non-work areas, during nonworking times. No employee may distribute or circulate any written or printed material in work areas at any time, or during their working time or during the working time of the employee or employees at whom such activity is directed;  Non-employees are not permitted to solicit or to distribute written material for any purpose on CODAC property; and  Off-duty employees are not permitted to solicit or distribute literature in work areas. Strict compliance with these rules is required. “Working time" includes all time for which an employee is paid and/or is scheduled to be performing services for CODAC; it does not include break periods, meal periods, or periods in which an employee is not performing and is not scheduled to be performing services or work for CODAC.
