in mind the nature of the work, their own safety and the safety of co-workers, and their need to interact with the public. Below are a few guidelines for professional appearance (refer to Admin-333):  Clothing should not constitute a safety hazard.  All employees should practice common rules of neatness, cleanliness and comfort.  Tank tops, jogging suits, , flip-flops, slippers, sports slides, garments that are unnecessarily revealing, sweat pants and other similar apparel are generally not permitted.  Clothing (including masks or face coverings) displaying offensive language, images, or political, religious, sexually provocative, or insulting content is not permitted.  Personal appearance should include good personal hygiene, clean hair and well-maintained facial hair.  CODAC provided/produced attire featuring the CODAC logo and/or approved collaboration t-shirts are acceptable. We encourage employees to refer to policy and/or seek the advice of their supervisor or Human Resources if they have questions regarding appropriate dress or appearance at work. Employees who report to work improperly dressed or groomed may be instructed by their supervisor to return home to change. The time that nonexempt employees are absent for this purpose will be unpaid unless state law requires otherwise. Employees working remotely or in a hybrid capacity are expected to maintain the same standards of professional appearance as those working on-site, particularly when participating in video meetings, representing CODAC to the public, or engaging in any work-related interactions. ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY Employees are expected to be regular in attendance and to be punctual. Any tardiness or absence causes problems for fellow employees and supervisors. If employees are absent, their workload must be performed by others, just as they must assume the workload of others who are absent. To limit problems caused by employee absences or tardiness, we have adopted the following policy that applies to absences not previously approved by CODAC. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, be on time and be prepared to start work. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule, except for meal or break periods, or when required to leave on authorized CODAC business or otherwise authorized to leave. Non approved late arrivals, early departures or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided. DEFINITIONS: An unexcused absence occurs when an employee takes time away from work without prior approval. This means the absence wasn't scheduled or authorized, either before or after the absence. For example, if an employee takes a personal day without informing their supervisor or getting their supervisor’s approval, this is unexcused. CODAC understands that some absences cannot be prescheduled. Staff should let their supervisor know as soon as they can that they will be absent. CODAC may retroactively approve such absences, particularly when it is covered by Arizona Paid Sick Leave, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, or similar laws.
