Employees who are not required to perform any work during their on-call shift will be paid as established by protocol. Because this premium payment is not for work actually performed, the on-call hours will not count as hours worked for the purpose of determining overtime pay. This policy will be applied and interpreted in accordance with applicable municipal, state and federal legal requirements. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS BENEFITS OVERVIEW Benefit plans offered by CODAC are defined in legal documents such as insurance contracts and summary plan descriptions. If employees are offered benefits, and if a question arises about the nature and extent of plan benefits or if there is a conflict in language, the formal language of the plan documents govern, not the informal wording of this Handbook. Plan documents, if applicable, are available for employees' inspection and are available on the intranet. CODAC and its designated benefit plan administrators reserve the right to determine eligibility, interpretation and administration of issues related to benefits offered by the CODAC. Employment benefits vary according to the position and status of the employee. Full-time employees are eligible to receive all employment benefits offered by CODAC . Part-time employees are eligible for reduced Paid Time Off, Paid Sick Leave, Employee Assistance Program, Pet Insurance, 403(b) and access to Wellness offerings, as appropriate. Temporary, Contract and On-Call employees are not entitled to any CODAC benefits. To receive certain benefits, eligible employees may be required to meet participation requirements and pay required premiums and other contributions. CODAC currently offers pre-tax and post-tax benefits to eligible employees and their spouses, dependents and other qualifying family members in an equitable and cost effective way and in compliance with applicable state and federal laws. Employees have up to 31 days from their date of employment to select their benefits. Once the selection is made it will remain fixed for the remainder of the plan year; however, employees will have an opportunity to make changes to their benefit selections during the CODAC's annual open enrollment period. Employees who experience a qualifying life event such as marriage, divorce or the birth of a child will also be allowed to make a change in their benefit selection when that event occurs, in accordance with the terms of the plan document. Employees should refer to the Benefits Guide and/or contact Human Resources for detailed benefits information. SAME-SEX MARRIAGES, CIVIL UNIONS AND DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIPS CODAC complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding the provision of benefits to same-sex spouses, domestic partners and couples in a civil union. Employees should contact Human Resources if they have any questions regarding benefits eligibility for themselves or their spouses, domestic partners or partners in a civil union.
